Moments...

Khaysia (8mos) in Birmingham Alabama

There are times when I look at Khaysia and I can see a glimpse of a precocious toddler trying her best to tell me a joke, or the ‘coming-of-age’ teenager upset because I told her to go upstairs at put on more clothes. In these moments I feel like time is slipping away too fast and I begin to wonder about the woman that she will inevitably become.

Then there are times like last night.

Kamal put a small plastic cup on Khaysia's head and she laughed uncontrollably as she tried to remove it --- like a cup on her head was the funniest thing she had ever encountered. Its the moments like this I cherish the most, because for a second all I see is my silly, 9 month old (almost) baby girl who simply loves to laugh.
